Image Alteration: Brick Wall

My first assignment for Digital Concepts: Image was to take a plain image and alter it using just the tools in photoshop. The image was a brick wall. Here is the original image and my alteration:

Facebook Zipline Profile Picture

Awhile back, I made a few creative facebook profile pictures that played with the background and layout of the site. Here is another that I made with a little bit of free time that I had.

Facebook Profile Pictures

I was never really a fan of selecting a Facebook profile picture, but I recently found that they can be a lot of fun. After figuring out the dimensions of a Facebook profile picture, 200px by 600px, I came up with a few ideas that people wouldn't expect to see as a profile picture. I wanted to be creative and use the Facebook layout style as part of my picture, as if I was actually on the page. Here are a few designs that I came up with: (click to enlarge)

Visual Concepts: Place Project

For this assignment, we had to relate our project to place. My project has to do with the places that I've been by compiling all of my pictures into a mosaic in the shape of my eye. The concept behind this piece is that, without eyes, I could not have seen any of these places nor experienced them. The process involved using AndreaMosaic to create the mosaic with my pictures, creating the eye. Then, using Photoshop, I made 16 6" x 4" files to print. After each file was printed, I rearranged the photo to create the eye and glued them to matboard.

Visual Concepts: Self Project

For my class, we were assigned to create a piece that represented our self image in anyway. I chose to alter my face and head to portray a different type of person. The word self comes into play with the idea of wondering what I would look like if I was born differently or was at a different time frame in my life. The different alterations that I made were to represent an older person, an African American person and an Asian person using photoshop.
