For this assignment, I needed to create an interesting form using my two initials, N and S. The letterforms could be uppercase or lowercase and a combination of both. Once I came up with a creative form, I then needed to use french curves to draw each letterform. Using black india ink, I created a solid composition of my initials. Below is my approach scanned in on illustration board. After the assignment, I recreated the composition is Illustrator and created my personal logo.

Today, Paul Rabil’s Official Store went live today featuring custom items available only at his website. Store was created through wordpress plugin getshopped! as well as other plugins for customization. I use getshopped! because of its simple admin panel, which lets me customize every aspect of the store. The PHP is well-written and allows easily accessible commands throughout the store, all based on a single root. Check out Paul’s Store 99 for yourself:

Add an exposure adjustment layer above the other adjustment layer. Again, click on the black and white circle at the bottom of your layers palette.

Play around with the Gamma Correction and Exposure levels. I set my exposure to -0.10 and my Gamma Correction to 0.68.

That’s it! You’re done. Now you officially have a one of a kind grunge pattern.

In class we were asked to draw an object that we had brought into class. In my case, I had a USB drive. With the form drawn, we then had to take apart the shapes and rearrange them to create some kind of pattern. We then traced the images onto the computer into illustrator and began creating our final pattern. Once the pattern was done in black in white, we then had to create three more using different color schemes: two complementary colors, three same saturation colors and one of our choice. Here is what I came up with.
