For this assignment, I needed to take a carpenter’s tool, musical instrument or kitchen tool and simply the form and create 4 variations:

Painterly: System of thick and thin strokes, calligraphic, closest to the original gestural expression.
Graphic/Geometric: System of uniformity in stroke or rectilinear in general, distinctively evolved from its brush stroke origin.
Radical: Extreme deviation or abstraction from the original form/gesture, bizarre.
Nirvana: Selection of best expression or form considering all the methodologies; possible hybridized form; form that feels right or best.

I chose to use a channel lock.

For this assignment, we had to relate our project to place. My project has to do with the places that I’ve been by compiling all of my pictures into a mosaic in the shape of my eye. The concept behind this piece is that, without eyes, I could not have seen any of these places nor experienced them. The process involved using AndreaMosaic to create the mosaic with my pictures, creating the eye. Then, using Photoshop, I made 16 6″ x 4″ files to print. After each file was printed, I rearranged the photo to create the eye and glued them to matboard.
